Laura & Balaji (PGP 2003)

Laura (Exchange 2003) & Balaji V Prasad (PGP 2003)

LAURA’S STORY:
I went to the guys’ dorm, until then, everything is normal.
There I sit on the couch in front of TV with a French friend, watching a game of cricket. Normal, it is India’s national sport. And then comes an Indian. We’re in India, so normal.

But this one looks different, especially when he doesn’t care about me at all… No, I am joking. But really, he only chats with my friend and ignores me. And somehow, it displeases me.
I take a glimpse of his open room, it looks different too: there is a gramophone, framed art on the walls and a carpet on the floor. Unlike any other Indian’s room.

Well, a few years later, you all know my Balaji is so different from any other: he is just unique! 😉

BALAJI’S STORY:
There I was at IIMA sitting peacefully in my room on a Monday evening of September 9, 2002, when I hear some very weird accents for the first time. Out I come to the common room, where I see a whole load of Mademoiselles de France who had invaded D4. And then I saw Laura – and – Lightning!!!

And on Wednesday night, we spent the whole night talking, and before we realised it was around 6:30 am – Time to go to bed!

And by the end of the second week, with a Udaipur trip in between, the seeds for this story were sown!!!

Reason why I did not speak with her on the first day we met:
The moment I saw her, I knew it had to be something special. And I was too scared and nervous (one of the really few times I have been nervous about chatting up the fairer sex) – not scared of speaking to a lovely girl, but more scared that my brilliant mind would make me utter something stupid and I will end up looking like a moron. So I decided to act the cooooool guy and avoided her totally – and boy, it worked like a charm. 😉

P.S.: In case you didn’t guess it, this was also a space filler

After having lived in three continents over last 14 years, we have recently moved to Zurich from Mumbai.
