IIMA’s Doctoral Programme Completes 50 years

In 1971, IIMA became the first IIM to start a Doctoral Programme, later known as the Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) and now called the Doctoral Programme in Management (DPM). Over the past five decades, the programme has shaped generations of academicians, researchers, business leaders, and thinkers.

To mark the completion of 50 years since the first FPM graduate, IIMA hosted a “Doctoral Programme Golden Jubilee Celebration” on April 19-20, 2024.

All the Doctoral/Fellow Programme alumni were invited to participate in this celebration. A total of 105 alumni attended the event.

Professor Bharat Bhasker, Director, IIMA; Professor Diptesh Ghosh, Dean (Programmes); Professor Sunil Maheshwari, Dean (Alumni & External Relations); Professor Satish Deodhar, Dean (Faculty); and Professor Anirban Banerjee, Executive Committee member of the DPM; welcomed the alumni who joined from different parts of the country.

Several eminent alumni including  Professor  A K Jain (the first Doctoral Programme graduate of IIMA),  Professor Shekhar Chaudhuri (Former Director, IIMC),  Professor Rishikesha T Krishnan (Director, IIMB), and  Professor Samir Barua (Former Director, IIMA) shared their memories. They also shared their views on the contributions and impact of the programme, and their perspectives on the future of IIMA’s Doctoral Programme.
