Reflecting on the two and a half years since completing the Faculty Development Program (FDP) at IIMA in 2022, I feel a deep gratitude and fulfilment. The program was a transformative milestone in my academic and personal journey, equipping me with the tools, perspectives, and relationships that continue to shape my path.
One of the most significant takeaways from the FDP was mastering the correct approach to research. Before the programme, research seemed like a daunting task, often overshadowed by ambiguity. The FDP, with its rigorous curriculum and focus on precision, opened my eyes to a systematic and impactful way of conducting research. I couldn’t be more thankful to Prof. Vijaya Sherry Chand, Prof. Devasmita Chakraverty, Prof. Namrata Chindarkar and Prof. Kathan Shukla for shaping us. It wasn’t just about methodology but also about asking the right questions and approaching problems with clarity and curiosity. This newfound skill has greatly enriched my academic endeavours, especially as I work on my second PhD.
Another invaluable lesson from the FDP was the power of collaboration. At IIMA, I discovered the joy and strength of working with like-minded peers. The collaborative projects, discussions, and debates helped me realise that great ideas often emerge from collective efforts. More importantly, I learned that no dream is too big if we are willing to put in the hard work and reach out for support when needed.
What stands out most about the FDP experience is the incredible network we built. Over those months, we connected with exceptional individuals—some of whom have become lifelong friends, mentors, and philosophers. The bond developed in the classroom and beyond with Dr Gautam Bapat, Dr Kulwinder Kaur, Dr Vishal Acharya, and Dr Abhik Kumar Mukherjee will go a long mile. These relationships extend beyond professional collaborations; they are a source of constant motivation, wisdom, and support. The conversations and shared experiences with my FDP peers continue to inspire me, reminding me of the larger purpose we all strive for in academia and life.

The FDP also gave me the courage to think big and expand my horizons. Before the programme, I felt like I was living in a well, confined by my own limitations and self-doubt. However, the IIMA exposure helped me climb out of that well, encouraging me to embrace a broader vision and take on challenges I once deemed impossible.
Today, as I navigate my journey as an academic, I carry the lessons of the FDP close to my heart. IIMA has not only shaped my approach to research and teaching but has also instilled in me a deep belief in continuous growth, collaboration, and the boundless possibilities of hard work.
To my fellow FDP alumni, mentors, and professors, thank you for being an integral part of this journey. As I look ahead, I am excited to build on these foundations, contribute meaningfully to the academic community, and continue to think big. As Prof Vijaya Sherry Chand said at the FDP Conference 2023 we are among 1260 professors who have taken this program and I am extremely proud of it.

I can’t help but marvel at how transformative this journey has been. For someone who always dreamt of being at an IIM but didn’t make it due to a low CAT score, the FDP wasn’t just an opportunity—it was the realisation of a long-cherished dream.
One of my proudest achievements has been getting my case published in the prestigious IIMA Case Centre, under the invaluable guidance of Prof. Biju Varkkey and in collaboration with Dr Gautam Bapat. That moment wasn’t just a professional milestone; it was a testament to how far I had come from the person who once doubted their potential.
Before the FDP, I struggled to find publications to feel proud of. Research, though fascinating, felt elusive. However, the FDP completely transformed my approach and gave me the right tools, people and mindset to excel. Today, I have publications indexed in the Web of Science and Scopus, with an ABDC journal article in the pipeline. Each of these accomplishments represents not just academic growth but also the courage to aim higher, the discipline to persevere, and the willingness to learn to pay tribute to my dear professors who have enlightened us with their wisdom. This two and half year of the journey post FDP isn’t just exciting but also excites me to learn something new every day.
The FDP experience is not just a chapter in my life—it’s a lens through which I now view every opportunity and challenge. And for that, I will always remain grateful to IIMA.
This is not the end of the dream—it’s just the beginning.
