(20 November 1954 – 21 January 2025)

The world is what was given,
The world is what we make.
And we can only discover
Life in the life we make.
—Louis Macneice
The poem sums up the life of Ashim Ghosh. With profound sadness we bid farewell to our beloved friend Ashim who left us early on 21st January 2025 after prolonged illness. He was ailing for the last couple of years following a stroke and some other conditions. Ashim leaves behind his sister, Ms Joysri Sorcar and two daughters Anuradha in the US and Shina in the UK.
Ashim entered IIMA after graduating from IIT Kharagpur. Ashim was a true gentleman–kind, brilliant and always had a smile on his face! He was our stalwart from D1. A memory from those days–sleeping was forte, when roused from his slumber he would comb his hair and run eight rounds of the hockey field! His entry to IIM was magic-so they say. Ashim had to click all major events and performances for he was the photography secretary. He had a long stint with Infosys and for more than a decade he was based in the UK. He was Director of ICFAI Business school in Kolkata which was among his last assignments.
We will miss his ever smiling face and small witty conversations. A friend to many, his warmth touched many hearts. Ashim will be remembered and missed by all.
