Dear Alumni,
There are a few things that bind us as strongly as the rhythms of campus life, the late-night intellectual discussions and debates, the rituals that mark each year, and the traditions quietly passed from one batch to the next. This Feb ’26 issue of The WIMWIAN is devoted to that spirit: Campus and Traditions – how our campus shapes identity, creates belonging, and sustains a community across generations. The cover theme brings together memories and reflections that are at once personal and familiar, and I hope they prompt you to recall the small moments that became lifelong customs.
For me, the metaphor is simple and true: IIMA is like a mother, generous with care, keen for our welfare, and proud when her children flourish. As alumni, we carry those lessons and memories wherever we go; they shape the way we lead, teach, and live. This issue celebrates that maternal bond, the affection, the expectations, and the shared hopes for prosperity and purpose that link us back to the campus. Our Reunions Special captures the joy and warmth of returning to campus: conversations, photo-essays, and the spontaneous meetings across campus that remind us why coming back feels like coming home.
Equally timely, the IIMA Archives offers a richly researched piece on the history of sport at IIMA, tracing how athletics and events such as Sangharsh and Ekatva have become central to campus life; these pages show how sport has helped build strength, spirit, and solidarity of the IIMA community over the decades.
The Special Feature explores Management Lessons from “Thirukkural” By S. Srinivasan (PGP’70), classical wisdom and lived practice, a thoughtful bridge between tradition and contemporary thinking. You will also find our regular favourites: Campus Pulse, Alumni Writes, Book Shelf, SMILE updates, and reports from alumni chapters that keep us connected and informed.
The Alumni and External Relations Office (AERO) has launched an Online Registration Portal to support our Paperless Office initiative. The portal centralises profile updates, reunion RSVPs, and ID-card services, making on-campus processes quicker and better co-ordinated. Please update your details at community.iima.ac.in/myprofile using your registered email.
The WIMWIAN is, at heart, a conversation – your memories, corrections, and suggestions make it meaningful. Keep sending your recollections and ideas; we learn from what you share.
Warm regards,
Prof. Sunil Maheshwari
Dean, Alumni & External Relations.
