Celebrating a Historic Diamond Jubilee: Dr. Subhash Bhave’s 60-Year Legacy
On April 10, 2026, members from the IIMA Pune Chapter gathered to witness a truly historic milestone. Thanks to a thoughtful initiative led by Mr. Milind Damle (PGP 1990), our local collective came together to celebrate the 60th convocation anniversary of one of our senior-most alumni, Dr. Subhash Bhave.
Dr. Bhave holds a unique and revered place in the institute’s history. He was part of the very first IIMA convocation, officially receiving his PGDBA exactly sixty years prior, on April 10, 1966. To sit in the same room with a veteran who helped shape the early legacy of our alma mater was a rare and humbling privilege.
However, what made the gathering so memorable was not just the history, but Dr. Bhave’s incredible presence. At 85 years young, his energy and curiosity are contagious. Rather than resting on a lifetime of achievements, he continues to actively embody the spirit of the institute. Driven by a deep passion for writing, he impressively publishes four to five books every single year.
For the younger alumni present, interacting with him was a profound experience. Dr. Bhave is a living legend who provided us all with a powerful reminder that true lifelong learning has no age limit. The group picture captured that evening reflects an immense sense of pride and respect across generations. It was a beautiful celebration of legacy, intellect, and the enduring bond of the IIMA community.
