First Saturday of every month and IIMA Hyderabad Alumni Chapter monthly meetings are now synonyms. This time around the Hyderabad chapter hosted their monthly meeting in Cyber Convention Centre and the theme was “PGPX night”. The event was hosted and organized by PGPX alumni and about 10 other PGPX alumni and their families graced the occasion. All the PGPX alumni took turns to explain their professional journey to the 60+ audience. Overall the PGPX alumni felt the time spent was worth every minute as it provided them numerous opportunities to interact and network with senior alumni. While the main event was being run, the families (spouses & kids) got engrossed in various fun activities that were arranged for them.
Sanjay Ranjan Das, 1984 PGP alumni from US, also graced the occasion. Sanjay earlier worked as an Associate Professor at Harvard Business School and is now with Santa Clara University as a Professor in Finance. He is also a visiting professor at ISB, Hyderabad. The chapter leveraged the opportunity to hear from Sanjay on how AI has been making inroads in various Industries in United States. Sanjay spoke about in detail on the visible AI impact in Silicon Valley – drones, driverless cars, people less shops etc. Later the audience asked him questions around AI. The questions varied from “whether AI can predict death” to “how AI can play role in the Indian ecosystem”. For the question on whether AI can predict death, Sanjay responded that it is already doing on critically ill patients after hospitals in US embraced the technology.
The event went on till late in the night, where the discussions have been around on variety of topics ranging from AI to politics.
