Learning from Indian Epics and History

By Shrikant N Pangarkar, PGP 1976

Synopsis

What can ancient Indian epics and kingdoms teach us about leadership today? Learning from Indian Epics and History draws lessons in governance, ethics, and management from the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and India’s past. It explores how vision, strong values, justice, discipline, public welfare, and accountable administration shaped well-run kingdoms, while egotism and injustice undermined power. From the epics’ struggle between good and evil to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s strategic leadership and team-building, Chanakya’s insights into economics, politics, and strategy, and Samarth Ramdas’s emphasis on individual and social thought, the book distils enduring principles from selected literature.
