North America Chapter’s Successful NYC Gala

IIM Ahmedabad Alumni Association, USA Chapter hosted the NYC Gala on September 5, 2024 at the Consulate General of India, New York. It was an evening of insightful discussions, networking, and celebration which was attended by more than 100 alums with their spouses. With the theme of US-India Business Synergy, the event showcased how IIM Ahmedabad alumni can support and influence the growing opportunities between the two nations.

The evening began with a warm welcome address by Shri Binaya Pradhan, Consul General of India, New York, setting the tone for a memorable gathering.

Dr. Mukesh Aghi, President and CEO of the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF), shared his profound insights on the evolving US-India business landscape and the importance of bilateral partnerships. Dr. Aghi highlighted the fragmented and fragile state of global affairs, marked by conflicts, economic shifts, and the decline of Europe. He argued that the rise of China presents a challenge to the existing world order, while India’s rise is seen as a positive force. He emphasized the need for India to become more assertive in its foreign policy.

Dr Aghi acknowledged India’s economic growth and its potential to become a global leader, driven by its young workforce and technological advancements. However, he also identified challenges like economic disparity, declining female workforce participation, and the need for increased domestic and international investment.

Chhavi Moodgal, CEO of IIMA Endowment Fund, presented the fund’s long-term vision for the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and its positive impact on education and leadership.

Gaurav Rastogi, President of the Executive Council of IIMA Alumni Association NA, underscored our mission of creating a vibrant alumni community. Our focus on networking, entrepreneurship, and giving back is not just a goal, but a shared journey that each of us contributes to.

The event painted an optimistic picture of the US-India business synergy, highlighting the potential for mutually beneficial growth. The speakers acknowledged both the opportunities and challenges facing India, urging the diaspora to play an active role in strengthening the relationship and advocating for a more inclusive and credible India.
