Dear Alums,
We are delighted to present the latest issue of The WIMWIAN with the theme “Celebrating Mentors.” In the Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 4, verse 34, Lord Krishna emphasises the significance of a spiritual guide: “To learn the Truth, approach a spiritual master. Ask him questions with reverence and serve him. He will impart knowledge because he has seen the Truth.” This timeless wisdom highlights the value of choosing mentors who have our best interests at heart and who are spiritually aligned.
A spiritually oriented mentor understands the deep interconnectedness of all beings. They recognise the importance of spreading positivity and maintaining happiness as a path to fulfilment. With immense compassion for all living things, these mentors carefully observe and understand the needs of their mentees, while keeping the broader vision in mind. They see mentorship as a key element in the larger context of life’s journey.
In this issue’s Cover Stories, our alumni share their personal experiences with mentors who shaped their personal and professional lives. Some also write about individuals who, though not always supportive, still imparted valuable life lessons. We hope these stories inspire you to reflect on your own mentors and the impact they have had on your journey.
This edition also includes a Special Feature on the future of the two-year MBA, as well as insightful articles such as “The Need for Strategic Networking” and “Learning Life Strategy from Chess” in the Alumni Writes section. You’ll also find updates on the PGP ’72 Varanasi reunion and news from our chapters in Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Jaipur and North America. Additionally, the IIMA Archives provide a fascinating look into the establishment of IIMA’s computer networks and we feature new books authored by our alumni.
We hope you enjoy this issue and continue to contribute. It’s always a pleasure to read your articles and stay connected with you.
Warm regards,
Prof Sunil Maheshwari,
Dean, Alumni and External Relations
