Onam 2024: Expression of community spirit and cultural pride

Onam is a festival that unites the entire IIMA community in a vibrant celebration of culture, feasting, and joy. This year, the festivities took place on September 15, 2024, and were organised spectacularly by Cultcomm with a number of activities designed to engage and entertain.

The celebration featured an array of performances, including traditional dances and singing and games.  A major highlight of the event was the Onam Sadhya, an elaborate feast that included 20 traditional dishes served on banana leaves. The event was further enlivened by a troupe of traditional drummers whose rhythmic beats resonated throughout the campus. Additionally, the presence of Mahabali, the legendary king associated with Onam, added a special touch to the celebrations as he blessed both the students and the occasion.

To enhance the festive spirit, organisers ensured that everyone was dressed appropriately for the occasion. Traditional Kerala sarees for women and mund (dhoti) for men were made available, allowing participants to fully immerse themselves in the cultural significance of Onam.
