With effect from June 5, 2026, Prof. Amit Karna has been appointed Dean, Alumni & External Relations (AER) at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA).
A Professor in the Strategy Area and an alumnus of IIMA’s Fellow Programme in Management (FPM 2004–2009), Prof. Amit Karna brings to the role a unique perspective shaped by his journey as a student, researcher, faculty member, and academic leader at the Institute.
Since joining the IIMA faculty in 2014, Prof. Karna has held several key leadership positions, including Chairperson of the One Year MBA Programme (PGPX), Chairperson of Placements, Chairperson of the Strategy Area, and Chairperson of CIIE (now IIMA Ventures). He currently serves as a Member of the Board of Governors of IIMA. Through these roles, he has made significant contributions to strengthening the Institute’s academic excellence, industry engagement, and entrepreneurial ecosystem.
As Dean, Alumni & External Relations, Prof. Karna will lead the Institute’s efforts further to strengthen its engagement with the global alumni community and deepen the lifelong relationship between IIMA and its alumni. His appointment reflects the Institute’s continued commitment to fostering meaningful alumni connections and advancing initiatives that support the growth and development of IIMA.
