IIM-A Alumni Kolkata Chapter organized Synchrony 2026 on 30 May for all the young freshers, students, and alumni. This year, we had the honour of hosting the Eastern Army HQ Command, represented by Col Abhimanyu Kumar Shah, CO, 329 Medium Regiment, as well as Ms. Sudeepta Banerjee, AVP, and Ms. Drashti Sanghvi, AGM, from IIM-A Endowment Fund. The event was hosted by our distinguished alumnus, Pankaj Kankaria, 2006 batch, at his hotel, Vedanta Boutique Hotel off EM Bypass, and attended by about 50 members.
The event started with a welcome note by Mr. Sumant Bhutoria, 2009 batch, and current chapter President, followed by a talk from our senior-most alumnus, Mr. Madan Mohanka, 1967 batch. We were also treated to a 2-minute video spotlight on his company, Tega Industries, prepared by IIM-A Endowment Fund. Ms. Sudeepta briefed us about the current initiatives of the Endowment Fund and how it is creating a positive impact on the institute’s initiatives. The stage was then set for the talk by our chief guest, Col. Abhimanyu, on Operation Sindoor. He walked us through the detailed events leading to this operation last year, the clear annihilation of the terrorist camps, the escalatory events – drone wars- and the Indian response of wiping out major Pakistani military assets. Col. Abhimanyu was gracious enough to answer our questions on Operation Sindoor, and we had a wonderful time interacting with him and his officers.
After a sumptuous tea break, the newly inducted freshers got an opportunity to interact with the alumni and get a chance to understand what is in store for them in the next 2 years. The energy and excitement of the freshers invigorated the alumni as we walked down memory lane and remembered the vivid memories of our own IIM-A student days.
