Synopsis
At one of its now annual batch Reunions, a suggestion to share untold stories beyond what the pink papers have covered, found traction. A gang of 4 volunteers offered to help. Thus was born this simple, eminently readable, short & sweet 75-pager of a book. Among those who were nudged to share what they felt like sharing, nine agreed. That’s what this book covers. These are not their whole life stories, just what was very meaningful to themSo we have: Manek Daruvala, sole bawa of the batch, reminding us that ‘reasonable people don’t achieve too much’, through the case of an ‘unreasonable’ student. Cop Umesh Sharraf, the great survivor of murder plots, attempts, and accidents, reminds us that the universe takes care of you!
Want to know the daring side of PS Srinivas, who we only knew as a World Bank guy? Or how our Marathi mulgi Vinita ‘2 states’ Venky seamlessly moved into conservative Chennai and to avail, oil bath, motherhood, bahuhood… and a serious career to boot? And how Rajat Jain got into the front page of Turkish papers …. And got out of his ‘What nexts’, finding his calling through his ‘startup for startups’? The inspiring story of Anil Choudhary’s many life challenges, and life-changing messengers? Or of good old Venkatesh Narasiah, once a serious banker: now helping people navigate the road to well-being through Vedic Astrology!! And Rajiv Lal, the healer, and his 3000 BC Therapeutics?
And of dear, dear Sunil Verghese, unfortunately no more …and his foray as a villain in cinema?
This book is delightfully different as it’s not about well-chronicled lives. But of our own friends. About whom we did not know much. But no longer! I am glad I read it. May there be more!
