Synopsis:
‘The Indus Quest’ is a thought-provoking and thrilling tale of mystery, faith, personal struggles and the pursuit of power. Though it is a contemporary novel, the storyline is sculpted by layers of history and myth-making. Subhadra Acharya, a 38-year-old historian, meets her estranged friend Dwip Ray, a disillusioned ex-IPS officer, after fourteen long years. Later that night, Subhadra is abducted. Subhadra’s abduction sets off a chain of events that leads to the heart of a four thousand-year-old mystery.
Walter Chacko, a Deputy Director in the Intelligence Bureau, is drawn into a web of conspiracy against Prime Minister Venkataraman’s government. The shadowy mastermind seeks to radically alter India’s political destiny. Subhadra, Dwip and Walter must follow the clues left in several ancient sites and in a thousand-year-old journal of the Chinese traveller Wu Hongxun. It is a race against time to unravel a mind-bending truth about India’s history- a revelation that may have far-reaching consequences for the largest democracy in the world.

Author Bio:
Pinaki Ranjan Mitra studied at the University of Calcutta before earning his Master’s/post graduate degrees from Jawaharlal Nehru University and IIM, Ahmedabad. He had spent fourteen years in the Indian government, and had later moved on to join the private sector. He has worked in several senior management roles in the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors. Pinaki Ranjan wrote his first novel ‘The Indus Quest’ under the pen name Ranjan Mitra. Pinaki Ranjan is an avid street and travel photographer. He lives in New Delhi.
