The Fireside Chat with Mr. Alok Agrawal, the former CFO of Reliance Group, was a resounding success. Held on June 20, 2024, in association with the IIMA Endowment Fund, the event offered invaluable insights into the financial strategies that have shaped one of India’s largest conglomerates. Mr. Agrawal, with his decades of experience, shared his wisdom on financial leadership and corporate governance, leaving the audience enriched with knowledge and inspired to innovate within their own fields.
Field Visit for Dedicated Freight Corridor(DFCCIL), Operations Control Centre
On June 29, 2024, members of the IIMAAAAC had the opportunity to visit the Dedicated Freight Corridor Operations Control Centre (DFCCIL OCC) in Ahmedabad. This state-of-the-art facility was inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi in March 2024. It is a pivotal node in managing the logistics and operations of India’s expanding freight network. The visit allowed members to gain insights into the sophisticated systems and technologies employed to streamline freight movement, enhancing their understanding of modern transportation infrastructure’s complexities and efficiencies.
Budget Pe Charcha
Budget Pe Charcha, a signature annual event organised by IIMAAAAC, that was held on the day of the union budget- 23rd of July 2024 at the Imperial Hall of the Pride Hotel in Ahmedabad, was a resounding success. The evening began with a high tea, followed by an insightful welcome address on budget mathematics by Mr. Himal Parikh from Ahmedabad chapter. Mr. Nilesh Modi, a partner at KPMG, delivered a compelling keynote speech on the budget, setting the stage for a dynamic discussion featuring industry experts such as Mr. Dhiren Shah, Tax head, Adani Group and Mr. Vijay Kothari from IA&AS. The session on the impact of the budget on equity markets by Ashwini Gupta was particularly enlightening. The event concluded with an open Q&A, felicitation of Speakers by Prof Amit Karna and a vote of thanks by Rajiv Sharma. The event was followed by a member mixer over dinner, fostering engaging conversations and networking opportunities.
Budget and Equity Markets
The Indian Institute of Management Alumni Association (IIMAAAAC) successfully hosted a study circle meeting on the topic of ‘Budget and Equity Markets’ on 24th July 2024. The event featured a comprehensive presentation by Mr. Harish Bihani, a Senior Fund Manager at Kotak AMC, who shared his valuable insights on the impact of the national budget on equity markets. The session was well-received by attendees including students who engaged in a lively discussion, enriching their understanding of the financial landscape. Annual General meeting (AGM) of IIMAAAAC
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the IIM Ahmedabad Alumni Association Chapter (IIMAAAAC) was successfully conducted on August 8th. The event commenced with a congenial breakfast gathering of alumni members at the IMDC cafe, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie. The primary focus of the AGM was to meticulously review and ratify the audited financial statements for the fiscal year 2023-24. Additionally, the assembly engaged in thoughtful discussions on the proposed amendments to the IIMAAAAC constitution, as put forward by the constitution review committee. The Ahmedabad chapter continues to set a precedent with its robust corporate governance framework, structured paid membership, and a well-defined constitution.
