PGP 1967 Batch’s Memorable Reunion in Daman

The Annual Class of ’67 Reunion took place in Daman, a place of scenic beaches, a rich history and colourful cultural events, the architecture a unique blend of its Portuguese and Indian heritage.

The stay was meticulously planned by Madhav Shah, at the Praveg Beach Resort, with each participant put up at a picturesque cottage on the property, facing the ocean. The more energetic of the class, most of whom are over 80 years of age, enjoyed daily morning walks at the beach, under the watchful eye of the lighthouse. The afternoons and evenings were filled with enjoyable group activities, organised with the help of Sanjay Naik, a family connection of Vapi. Live Hindi music entertained the guests on the first night, at a dinner hosted by Madan Mohanka at a delightful open-air restaurant.

On another day, the Naiks hosted all of the guests at the grand Avadh Utopia Club, reminiscent of resorts at Bali, to enjoy a lavish buffet lunch consisting of 150 dishes graciously sponsored by Nirmal & Harshad.

Every meal was a gastronomic delight, and the class members were very well looked after by Sanjay and Mitang Naik who were helpful and gracious with their time and suggestions on places to visit in the older part of the town, with its 500 plus year old churches and temples in Tithal.

One evening, Sharad Joshi from the class of ‘67 made an interesting presentation on AI and its future. The class also learnt of and applauded Madan Mohanka’s achievements over the years, both at Tega Ltd and in his social projects. On another memorable evening, the team celebrated Manju Mohanka’s Birthday and the Wedding Anniversary of Suresh Khatod and his wife at the resort.

All in all it was a wonderful reunion, where despite the average age being 80 plus, people like Mahajan and Parag took part in the festivities with admirable spirit. The Class of ’67 is proud to say that in spite of being the oldest set of ex-students of IIMA, they make sure to meet up every single year, for an age-defying reunion!
