From Six to Sixty-Five – Mumbai Chapter Runs Together

The IIMA Alumni Association (IIMAAA) Mumbai Chapter hosted its annual community run in February 2026, turning an ordinary Sunday morning into a celebration of fitness, fraternity, and food.

Close to 60 alumni and family members gathered just after sunrise for a 2, 4, and 8 km run and walk. The session began with a group warm-up led by a fitness enthusiast from all batches, setting the tone for an energetic morning. What stood out wasn’t the pace, but the participation.

Our youngest runner was a spirited 6-year-old, who jogged the first kilometer holding his father’s hand before switching to a victory sprint at the finish line. At the other end, inspiring everyone, was our senior-most participant — a 65-year-old alumna, who walked the full route with her *daughter. Two generations of the IIMA family shared the same track, proving that the institute’s bond only grows stronger with time.

“It’s rare to find a network where your child and your parent both feel welcome,” said one alum. “That’s the IIMA difference.”

The run ended with a cool-down session and, true to Mumbai style, a well-earned snack break. Conversations flowed easily over steaming chai, crisp samosas, and syrupy jalebis. Talk shifted from personal bests to professional pivots, from marathon calendars to mentorship ideas. For many, it was the perfect mix of health and hangout.

The IIMAAA Mumbai Chapter aims to make these runs a regular feature, with routes rotating across the city to include more members.
