Caption: Newly elected Executive Council of IIMA Alumni Association Delhi NCR Chapter
The Delhi-NCR chapter of the IIMA Alumni Association conducted an election to form the Executive Council for the first time in September 2024. A diligent process was followed to have an elected body of seven members in place. The executive council is expected to draft an Article of Association and formally register the association soon.
Details of the election process
The first step was to form an election committee by inviting volunteers in various whatsapp groups and by sending emails. Harish Singla (PGP ’90), Roy K Cherian (PGP ’91) and Mohit Bansal (PGP 2003) volunteered and along with outgoing President Sunil Kala formed the election committee.
Once the election committee was formed, elections were announced for seven seats to the Executive Committee and deadlines set for the various stages of the election. An aggressive campaign was run simultaneously to expand the alumni database, that has now reached an impressive number of 665 registered alumni, of which about 500 are from the various full time MBA and PhD programmes and the rest from executive education programmes.
The next step was to release the eligibility criteria for candidates and invite nominations. Special care was taken to ensure diversity of candidates from various batches, programmes and gender.
The following people were elected unopposed to the IIMA Alumni Association, Delhi-NCR Chapter:

- Secretary: Sameer Jain, PGPX ‘2012
- Treasurer: Sanjeev Aggarwal, PGP ‘95
- Vice President: Naresh Priyadarshi, PGP ‘97
- Joint Secretary:Devendra Bahadur, PGP ‘83
- Communications Lead: Seema Singh, PGPX 2016
- Digital Lead: Tarun Aggarwal, PGP 2002.
Updates from the EC
The newly elected EC is working on streamlining various initiatives that they believe will bring together the alumni and create benefits for the community at large. Some of the updates are:
– The society registration is under process.
– EC will be reaching out to batch coordinators to increase the alumni registration immediately after registration of the society.
– EC will soon start working on new initiatives on alumni engagement activities to make the network stronger and meaningful.
The alumni chapter is looking forward to a new beginning with the new EC at the helm.
