Diwali Dinner

Event Overview

The Diwali Dinner at Hotel Pride was a vibrant celebration that brought together alumni, faculty, and members of IIMAAAAC. The evening was marked by festive cheer, intellectual engagement, and meaningful networking. The presence of the Dean A&ER from IIMA and distinguished alumni representatives added prestige to the occasion, making it a memorable gathering for all. The Diwali Dinner at Hotel Pride was a resounding success, blending festive celebration with intellectual exchange. The event strengthened alumni bonds and reaffirmed the collective spirit of IIMAAAAC.

  • Leadership Presence: The Dean A&ER of IIMA, Prof Sunil Maheshwari and alumni representatives from other chapters were also present on the occasion and emphasized the importance of alumni engagement. Dean A&ER and IIMAAAAC representatives felicitated Prof A.K. Jain for his distinguished career of 50 years as a teacher.
  • Interactive Sessions: The quiz by an expert Quizmaster Sanjay Chakraborty and housie games created an atmosphere of fun and intellectual stimulation.
  • Networking Opportunities: The dinner provided a platform for members to reconnect and build new relationships.

Study Circle

Topic: Rare Earths: Global Strategic Landscape and Way Forward for India
Speaker: Pukhraj Sethiya, Co-founder, ReVal Consulting
Venue: SR-1, IMDC, New Campus, On 22nd November, 2025

Overview

A study circle was organized on the critical theme of Rare Earths: Global Strategic Landscape and Way Forward for India. The session was conducted by Mr. Pukhraj Sethiya, Co-founder of Reval Consulting, who brought deep insights into the geopolitical, economic, and technological dimensions of rare earth elements (REEs).

    Mr. Sethiya outlined the strategic importance of rare earths in defense, electronics, renewable energy, and advanced manufacturing. He emphasized how global supply chains are heavily concentrated, with China currently dominating production and refining capacities.
  • Challenges for India:
    The discussion highlighted India’s limited domestic production, technological gaps in processing, and dependence on imports. Participants noted the need for policy interventions to reduce vulnerabilities.
  • Strategic Opportunities:
    • Developing indigenous exploration and refining capabilities.
    • Strengthening collaborations with like-minded nations to diversify supply chains.
    • Investing in R&D for recycling and substitution technologies.
    • Leveraging India’s growing demand in clean energy and electronics to build strategic reserves.

Way Forward:
Mr. Sethiya stressed that India must adopt a multi-pronged approach—policy reforms, industry-academia partnerships, and international cooperation—to secure its rare earth future. The study circle successfully deepened understanding of rare earths as a strategic resource. It underscored the urgency for India to chart a clear roadmap in this domain, balancing national interests with global partnerships.

Movie Meet

Attendance: 50+ IIMAAAAC members and their family members

Overview

IIMAAAAC organized a special movie show of 120 Bahadur at Mukta A2 Cinema on 23rd November. The event was designed to foster community bonding and provide members and their families with an engaging cultural experience.

  • Film Screening: The movie “120 Bahadur” was showcased, offering a powerful narrative that resonated with themes of courage and resilience.
  • Participation: Over 50 members of IIMAAAAC, along with their families, attended the show, making it a vibrant gathering.
  • Community Spirit: The event strengthened camaraderie among alumni and their families, creating an atmosphere of togetherness and shared enjoyment.

Local Alumni Buddy Program

Activity Overview: The Exchange Students – Local Alumni Buddy Program

Participants: 28 Exchange Students mapped to 9 Alumni Buddies

The Ahmedabad Chapter also concluded the 2nd edition of the exchange student – alumni buddy program. The activity kick started on mid-September with an in-person introduction of the exchange students with their alumni buddies. This happened in CR18 of the New Academic Block. The activity was wrapped with a dinner interaction at Vishala.

During the 10 weeks of interaction, the students got a chance to explore Ahmedabad as a local. This included running marathons, playing pickleball, visiting gardens, eating street food and many more.
